Theology
The programme is aimed at equipping Christians for a range of frontline ministries in the UK and overseas. It balances academic strength with spiritual reflection and a practical focus, enabling Christians to think through issues which they will encounter in their ministry in a biblical and creative way.
Students who complete level 1 receive a Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) and those who complete level 2 gain a Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE). The ordinary BA takes three years full-time, and a fourth year of study gains an Honours degree.
- All students take core courses in the areas of Old and New Testament, Belief and Thought, Church History, Practical Theology and Mission Studies.
- These core courses focus on the study of the Bible, key Christian doctrines, and significant events in the history of the church, alongside practical subjects such as spirituality, teamwork, leadership, communication, mission and contextualisation.
- From level 2 onwards, the number of core courses decreases
and students can choose elective courses in any of the subject areas. - All students in levels 2 and 3 do placements, which encourage learning through experience.
- Students can choose from a wide range of different course choices to match their studies to their area of interest or future ministry.
